As a distributor of 3CX in the USA, one of the most exciting opportunities that we’ve encountered so far is our successful cooperation with a company in the hospital and medical services industry, that is integrating 3CX Phone System in their nurse call station solution. While we all understand that 3CX was designed primarily for SMB’s, I would like to share with the 3CX channel an example of another type of opportunity that exist beyond the SMB market for 3CX. The reason that this is interesting is because there are also implementations in other vertical markets that are using a similar technological approach – enabled by VoIP IP PBX’s. Based on the benefit of 3CX being a software-based IP PBX (vs. proprietary box) and the emerging API, 3CX is perfectly positioned to reach an audience looking to create industry specific solutions incorporating IP Telephony. Emerging are several vendors looking to offer vertical market IP PBX enabled solutions such as this new solution for the retail and in-home health industry.
The company we are working with is an International, publicly-traded medical industry pure play with about 6,500 employees. They are among the top 30 medical industry purveyors in the world and have annual revenues approaching 2 billion USD annually. Initially known for their “smart hospital bed” line of products, they’ve moved into several product and service offerings for the medical industry. Among their vast suite of products and services is a newer product that provides a communication backbone for hospital-based nursing stations. Featuring an easy to use, intuitive, nurses station console that is integrated with 3CX; the nurse call system allows for RFID (Radio Frequency ID tag) donning hospital associates to be easily located and reached via intercom and paging within the hospital campus.
I am fairly certain that this 3CX customer with their reputation and status within the medical industry, could have sided with any vendor of their choosing for the IP PBX technology needed in their solution. We know that they also evaluated offerings from the "big boy" names in IP Telephony. At the end of the day, they selected 3CX for its ease of deployment/use, hardware platform in dependency, and relatively low cost. They tested 3CX for almost a year (starting with V3) before their first deployments. Their choosing of 3CX for their solution further validates 3CX as an emerging leader in the IP PBX Telephony market.
Whether you are a 3CX channel partner, or manufacturer looking to offer IP PBX enabled industry specific solutions – you owe it to yourself to give 3CX a look.
